InZOI Fixes Major Sims Flaw, Adds City-Building Elements
With The Sims 4 celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2024 and Project Rene still wrapped in mystery, it’s no surprise new competitors are stepping into the spotlight. Among them, Krafton’s Korean-made game inZOI stands out, creatively blending realism with abstract charm. Lead developer Kjun revealed that inZOI draws deep inspiration from his lifelong love of the SimCity series.
Positioned as a stylish new challenger to EA’s iconic franchise, inZOI emphasizes city management, uniquely featuring a miniature city right on your desk overseen by a quirky, judgmental cat. “You become a god,” jokes Kjun, adding that every decision you make must receive feline approval. Although city sizes have been adjusted for playability, players still retain impressive control, customizing everything from decorations and weather to cat population and even adding zebras.
Inspired by SimCity and Cities Skylines, inZOI allows custom billboards to display images or YouTube videos you upload. A newly revealed city, Bliss Bay—modeled after Santa Monica—joins the previously announced Korean-style Dowon. Bliss Bay’s expansive nature suggests transportation options will be essential. Players can also adjust area safety levels thoughtfully to avoid stereotypes.
Excitingly, inZOI introduces flexible item stacking without needing cheats, extensive career options, and dynamic character interactions enhanced by Krafton’s advanced AI, promising an immersive, creatively satisfying experience.
