InZOI Addresses Player Concerns Over Generative AI
Krafton, the team behind InZOI, has responded to community concerns about the game’s use of generative AI. Many players worried that InZOI might be using AI models trained on content taken from the internet without permission, a practice widely viewed as unethical. To reassure players, Krafton clarified that InZOI’s AI exclusively uses company-owned assets or copyright-free materials. While the game’s innovative AI features could set it apart in the life simulation genre, players have emphasized the importance of ethical practices.
As InZOI’s release gets closer, excitement around the game’s unique features continues to grow. It includes working cars, a karma system, and support for mods through plugins, giving players more freedom and customization. One particularly impressive feature is compatibility with the Unreal Engine Live Link Face app, allowing your Zoi to mimic your own facial expressions.
Generative AI is a significant part of InZOI, enabling players to create custom textures from text prompts or even import real-world photos directly into the game. For example, you can upload a picture of your favorite t-shirt and dress your Zoi in it.
However, using generative AI raises concerns about copyright and ethical sourcing, especially since some AI tools have been trained using uncredited internet content. After noticing references to AI-generated textures on the demo’s Steam page, players questioned Krafton about the details.
In response, Krafton provided clear answers through their community representative, Suri, on Discord: “We’ve seen discussions around generative AI in InZOI, and we want to clarify our approach. All AI features in InZOI use proprietary models developed by Krafton, trained only on company-owned and copyright-safe materials,” Suri explained. “Plus, all AI processes happen directly on your device, no external servers involved.”
These questions first arose during the recent InZOI demo, where players got hands-on experience with the character creation tool. Although the demo isn’t available anymore, the conversation about ethical AI use continues. While waiting for InZOI’s full release, players can review the game’s system requirements or explore other popular life simulation titles in the meantime.
