InZOI’s fashion suite truly shines, featuring an impressive collection of customizable streetwear and accessories. It was easy to pick out a stylish top or skirt and adjust its length and colors using a detailed color palette. This flexibility made recreating iconic styles like McBling or Indie Sleaze effortless. The wardrobe is modern, extensive, and designed with gender-neutral options in mind. Game director Hyungjun Kim explained, “We reached out to fashion brands and professional designers during development. Collaborating closely with a designer experienced in dressing Korean singers and K-pop stars allowed us to craft our own distinctive fashion identity.”
However, there’s one notable downside: inZOI’s use of generative AI. Players can upload custom designs or choose from built-in patterns, but there’s also an AI feature that creates designs based solely on random text prompts. While this aligns with current tech trends, it unfortunately undermines the potential of an otherwise excellent character creator. Encouraging players to express their unique creativity, personal style, and cultural backgrounds could help build a more engaging community, rather than relying on AI-generated patterns that bypass genuine creative effort.
